Norene Mabel Amelia McMillin Steere

Norene Mabel Amelia McMillin Steere, 87, of Butler passed away Tuesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice with her family at her side.

Born July 2, 1929, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Martha Fend McMillin.

Norene was a graduate of Butler Senior High School and attended Wilson State College in Washington, D.C. She received nursing training at Garfield Memorial Hospital while in Washington D.C.

Norene traveled with her husband, George, while he was in the U.S. Navy and served as a Red Cross representative on the base. She also was a member of the Navy Wives Club in Dahlgren, Va. In her free time, she enjoyed reading. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, George B. Steere, who she married June 19, 1948; her daughters, Gail L. (John) Walchesky and Kathy (Joseph) Vargo, both of Butler; her son, Robert B. (Patricia) Steere of Butler; her brother, William J. Orth of Butler; her sisters, Martha Baptiste and Margaret Gallagher, both of Butler; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Norene was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Steere; two sisters; and two brothers.

STEERE — Friends of Norene Mabel Amelia McMillin Steere, who died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Norene's honor to Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053, or to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
