Archelaus “Artie” Weeks Jr.

Archelaus “Artie” Weeks Jr., 84, of Slippery Rock, Clay Township, passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Artie was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Shavertown, Pa., Kingston Township, Luzerne County, to Archelaus Weeks Sr. and Irene Price Weeks. He married Moon Okcha, and she preceded him in death Jan. 20, 1997.

Mr. Weeks was a retired U.S. Army veteran. He enlisted in 1953, serving until his retirement in 1977. He was a former member of Butler American Legion Post 117.

Artie enjoyed reading, fishing, quad riding, artistic painting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Helen M., and her husband, William Leonard “Lenny” Berasi, of Slippery Rock; his son, Max A. Weeks of West Sunbury; two sisters, Mary Ellen Ianni of San Bruno, Calif., and Jean Lamore of Iselin, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Angela M. and Aaron M. Berasi and Alayna A. and Olivia M. Weeks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

WEEKS — Family of Archelaus “Artie” Weeks Jr., who died Sunday, April 2, 2017, will have a private funeral service at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock, followed by full military honors rendered at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given in Archelaus' name to VNA Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
