Sam Breen headed to Penn State
CRANBERRY TWP — Finding the right college fit for a student athlete can be easy.
For Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic senior basketball star forward Sam Breen, however, the choice proved to be more complex than she was hoping for.
She originally signed with the University of Dayton, but backed out of that commitment in early April, saying at the time, “Something in my mind told me I committed too early.”
Breen, who was recently chosen as Pennsylvania's Class 4A Girls Basketball Player of the Year, is hoping the second time's a charm. She announced on Monday that she will be accepting an offer to continue her academic and athletic career at Penn State University.
Her decision will be made official this week when she signs, but that is a mere formality.
