Motorists using Interstate 79 in southwestern Butler County should plan ahead for possible delays this week.

The I-79 northbound right shoulder will again close at mile marker 85 along with the adjacent Route 19 north on ramp to I-79 north for drainage work during daylight hours, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation. The ramp will remain open.

Single lane traffic controlled by flaggers will be in place this week on Tollgate School Road for bridge work.

Nighttime, short-term lane restrictions will be enforced this week between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on I-79 northbound and southbound between Exit 76 (Route 228) and Exit 88 (Little Creek Road) in Cranberry and Jackson townships. Exceptions include I-79 northbound, Friday after 9 p.m., and I-79 southbound, Sunday after 9 p.m. I-79 will open every morning for rush hour traffic.

PennDOT reminds drivers to slow down and use caution in work zones. Fines are doubled for violations in work zones.
