The National Weather Service will be conducting tornado investigations today around the county. Severe storms Monday afternoon left a path of destruction around the county.

The National Weather Service will inspect areas in Butler County today to verify whether a tornado touched down during Monday afternoon's storm.

As of 8 a.m., exactly which spots will be checked had not been determined.

Steve Bicehouse, director of county emergency services, said he was asking the weather service to check out Prospect, Bruin and West Sunbury.

“It seemed to be mainly in the northern corridor,” Bicehouse said of the storm's impact.

The county 911 dispatch center received more than 100 weather-related calls beginning at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

“It slowed down around 5,” Bicehouse said.
