Elizabeth Ann Schilling Bartley

Elizabeth Ann Schilling Bartley, 78, of Middlesex Township passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital due to complications from lymphoma.

Elizabeth was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Forward Township to Herman and LaVona Covert Schilling.

She first attended the John School, then the Waters Station Road School. She graduated from Evans City High School and played the French horn in the band.

Elizabeth then worked for the North Pittsburgh Telephone Co., where she met her future husband, LaVerne.

She was a member of Clinton Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deacon. Formerly, she had been a Sunday school teacher at Middlesex Presbyterian Church. Additionally, she blessed the community with her innate musical talents on the piano and organ.

She, her husband and children operated a dairy farm for almost 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, genealogy and collecting Imperial Candlewick crystal.

She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Laverne S. Bartley; four sons, Samuel L. (Sue) Bartley of Valencia, Mark L. Bartley of Valencia, Roy G. (Fatima) Bartley of Valencia and Philip W. (Cathy) Bartley of Valencia; one daughter, Sharon L. (Scott) Gross of Mars; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Danielle, Peter, Samantha, Talia, Lance and Raphael; two sisters, Beverly (Reuben) Holt of Prospect and Sandra (Raymond) Chiappini of Chicora; one sister-in-law, Marian Schilling of Forward Township; two brothers-in-law, Robert Neal of Unionville and John (Marie) Bartley of Butler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patricia Neal; and one brother, Louis Schilling.

BARTLEY — Friends of Elizabeth Ann Schilling Bartley, who died Thursday, March 30, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Clinton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kelly Angleberger and the Rev. Gregory Wiest officiating.
