Shirley A. Aubrey Kawulich
Shirley A. Aubrey Kawulich of Butler died Monday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was a daughter of the late Paul A. Aubrey and Olive M. Jones Aubrey.
Shirley owned and operated Dutchtown Gardens & Greenhouse with her husband, William, for 42 years. Previously, she worked at Old Cutaway Meats and the Old Shirt Factory. She was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion Michael Kosar Post 778 in Lyndora.
She was a great seamstress of quilts, rag rugs and all craft items, many of which were donated, even some out of the country.
Surviving is her son, William R. Kawulich of Port Matilda, Pa.; one daughter, Carol (Richard) Wilbert of Butler, with whom she had lived for the past 5½ years, and her family; five grandchildren, Jason C., Keira L. and Nicklas R. Kawulich, and Brian and Derek Wilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kawulich, who she married July 12, 1952, and who died Nov. 2, 2003; one granddaughter, Kendra Wilbert; one brother; and one sister.
