Francis “Dutch” H. Laube III
Francis “Dutch” H. Laube III, 67, of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.
Dutch was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Josephine O. McLaughlin and Francis H. Laube Jr.
Dutch was a 1967 graduate of Freeport Area High School. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years.
After his service to his country, Dutch came home and went to work in his family business, Freeport Area Enterprise. He had worked there for 41 years and retired as president and CEO in 2014.
Dutch was instrumental in the design and construction of Buffalo Valley Country Club. He served as superintendent of Buffalo Valley CC from the time it was built until it was sold.
Dutch was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America. He was the president of the Freeport Area Community Park and the Freeport Cemetery Association. Dutch enjoyed golfing and vacationing in Florida. He loved to spend time with his dog, Pax.
Dutch is survived by his wife of 42 years, Darlene Simpson Laube; his daughter, Kimberly Montgomery and David Cercone of Pine Township; two sons, Barry Laube of Buffalo Township and Francis H. Laube IV; his sister, Mary Ann and Hartmut Horsch of Nuremberg, Germany; his brother, Harry R. Laube and Blaine Patterson of Meadville; six nieces and nephews; and twin great-nephews.

Laube III, who died Monday, March 27, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., in Freeport.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport with the Rev. Jocelyn Johnston officiating.
