Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Baird

Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Baird, 86, of Butler passed away Sunday at the Manor Care Health Services in Erie.

She was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Springdale, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Garnet Guiney Callen.

Gerry was a charter member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon for many years and a Sunday school teacher. She had worked at Magnetics, Armstrong Cable and the Family Drug Store.

Gerry volunteered for the Covenant Cupboard. She enjoyed her card club, of which she was a member for 40 years, home decorating, crafting, gardening, traveling with her husband and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, John I. Baird of Butler; two daughters, Jacquelyn Baird and her husband, Terry, of Erie and Kathleen Wilson and her husband, Donald, of Erie; one son, John Baird II, and his wife, Kate, of Slippery Rock; and seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael) King, Cory (Christine) Baird, Donald Wilson III, Matthew Wilson, Sara (Edward) D'Emilio, Jacqueline (Andrew) Thompson and John-Thomas (Kelsey) Baird. She was great “GiGi” to seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Callen.

The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care Nursing Facility and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care of Gerry.

BAIRD — Friends of Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Baird, who died Sunday, March 19, 2017, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ault officiating. Interment will be at the Butler County Memorial Park.Contributions may be made in Gerry's memory to the Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N.
