SLIPPERY ROCK — Alex Rodriguez, who played 22 years for the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, will be the focus of a public event next week at Slippery Rock University.

“Mindset of a Champion: A Moderated Discussion with Alex Rodriguez,” will be held at 8 p.m. April 27 in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

The event will include a 45-minute moderated discussion followed by a 15-minute question and answer session.

Rodriguez was a 14-time All-Star, a three-time Most Valuable Player and ranks fourth all-time with 696 home runs. He retired from the Yankees in 2016.

The program will focus on Rodriguez's time with the Yankees and he will also touch on his steroid allegations, according to a release from the university.

Rodriguez in 2009 admitted to using performance enhancing drugs earlier in his career and was suspended by the league for the entire 2014 season.

He also is the founder and CEO of A-ROD Corp., a company with real estate ventures, fitness centers and automotive dealerships.

Tickets will be $2 for SRU students and $5 for the general public and are available on the SRU Program Board website, srupb.com.
