Mae D. Bauer, 94, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Gables of Hudson in Hudson, Ohio.

She was born May 14, 1922, in Armstrong County, to the late Joseph Homer Dickey and Alice Jane Hindman Dickey.

She was a member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. Mrs. Bauer was a head nurse in the surgical section in Kittanning Hospital. She was a deputy tax collector for Penn Township for 32 years, a charter member of the Penn Township Woman's Club and co-author of the History of Penn Township. She graduated from the Butler Memorial Hospital Nursing School.

Mrs. Bauer is survived by one daughter, Roberta Bauer Henkel, and her husband, William, of Hudson, Ohio; five grandchildren, William and Thomas Henkel, Michael and Matthew Evan, and Caitlin Evan Ashe; three great-grandchildren, Johnathan Evan and Maya and Philip Ashe; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Maharg Bauer, who she married June 11, 1947, and who died June 28, 1990; one daughter, Marilyn Evan; three brothers, James Dickey, Walter Dickey and Joseph Harold “Sam” Dickey; and one sister, Lenora Gaiser.

BAUER — Friends of Mae D. Bauer, who died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Kitchen, pastor of the East Butler Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross, 789 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16002, or to the charity of your own choice.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
