Mary Francis McAvoy

Mary Francis McAvoy, 74, of Slippery Rock passed away at 2 p.m. Sunday at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 27, 1942, in Clarksburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia Belsito Marra.

She was a graduate of Washington-Irving High School in Clarksburg, W.Va., and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh.

Fran worked for 22 years at Seski & Associate Cancer Doctors in Pittsburgh and also Butler Hospital as a radiation technician for eight years.

Fran was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.

On July 3, 1965, she married John Edward McAvoy, and he preceded her in death Aug. 17, 2005.

Surviving are her son, John E. McAvoy of Slippery Rock; four grandchildren, Madeline F. Leiendecker and her husband, Andrew, of Plum, Mara E. Papley and her husband, Anthony, of Slippery Rock, John E.A. McAvoy of Slippery Rock, and Maria T. McAvoy of Slippery Rock; three great-grandchildren, Emma Jean Leiendecker, Haley Jade Leiendecker and Lilyona Grace Leiendecker, all of Plum; and one sister, Bobbie Oliveriao of Clarksburg, W.Va.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, David Oliveriao.

MCAVOY — In accordance with the wishes of Mary Francis McAvoy, who died Sunday, March 12, 2017, there will be no public visitation.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, where a blessing service will be at 4 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James T.
