George “Cliff” C. Schenn

George “Cliff” C. Schenn, 82, of Butler passed away Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Homestead, Pa., to the late George Schenn and Sylvia Paanan Schenn.

George worked for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 4 Indiana/Kentucky for 40 years, retiring in 1992.

A 32nd degree Mason, George was a 50-year dual member of the M.L. McClellan Masonic Lodge 357 in Hobart, Ind., and the Victory Lodge 694 in Butler. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Ind., the E.H. Gary York Rite and the Commandry Knights Templar Dunes of Portage, Ind.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Army Airborne in the 20th Engineer Brigade as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and traveling.

George is survived by two sons, Daniel Schenn and Robert Schenn, both of Hobart, Ind.; one brother, Dennis Schenn of Black River Falls, Wis.; one cousin, Miriam (Robert) Cunningham; and his companion of five years, Eileen Quinn of Buffalo Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Ewing Schenn, who he married Aug. 30, 1955, and who died May 26, 1999; and one niece, Deborah Schenn.

SCHENN — Friends of George “Cliff” C. Schenn, who died Thursday, March 9, 2017, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A Masonic service will be at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Denny Krajacic of Community Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Knights Templar Eye Foundation Inc., 1033 Long Prairie Road, Suite 5, Flower Mound, TX 75022.
