Zelienople, Harmony experiencing power outage.

Zelienople police Chief Jim Miller said a substation in McCandless, Allegheny County, that feeds power in the borough is experiencing problems that is causing the outage, which started after 9:30 a.m.

“I don’t know how it affects us, but it is,” Miller said.

Portable generators are being used to power traffic lights in the borough’s Main Street intersections.

It is unknown when power is expected to be back up in the borough.

Harmony Fire District chief Scott Garing said Harmony is also experiencing outages at this time. However, firefighters have not been dispatched to any problems caused by the outage as of 10:15 a.m.

Passavant Community in Zelienople has also been affected by the outage. Spokesman Dave Marko said nothing life-threatening has been reported as a result of the outage.

Neighboring Jackson Township has not been affected by the outage, said township police Chief Terry Seilhamer.
