Audrey J. Shakley

Audrey J. Shakley, 90, of Route 268, Frogtown, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, passed away Thursday at ACMH in Kittanning.

Audrey was born June 22, 1926, in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine Tripplet Yeager.

She was a graduate of Brentwood High School and was employed for many years as a secretary and dispatcher at Penreco in Karns City.

She was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora and a longtime Sunday school teacher at the former St. Paul Lutheran and later at Holy Trinity.

She had been active at the Chicora Senior Center and had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Audrey enjoyed gardening, playing cards and horseback riding.

Audrey was married in 1971 to Samuel Shakley, who died in 2004.

Audrey is survived by two sons, Bruce W. Peters of Manassas, Va., and Keith D. Peters and his wife, Janet, of East Brady; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bromley and her husband, Chris, and Kelly Peters, all of Dunedin, Fla., Jaimie Osan and her husband, Pete, of Pittsburgh, Shane Peters and Joshua Peters of East Brady; two great-grandsons, Jonathan and Jacob; one brother, David Yeager, and his wife, Jeanne, of Chicora; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

SHAKLEY — Friends of Audrey J. Shakley, who died Thursday, March 9, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hile Funeral Home, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

Additional visitation will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph J. Boomhower, church pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at the St. Luke Cemetery, Cabot.

Memorial contributions in Audrey’s name may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church to help care for Elizabeth and Ethan at 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, PA 16025.
