Nora Jean Ertel

Nora Jean Ertel, 80, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Saturday surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife to Jack Ertel for 42 years, who preceded her in death. She was born May 26, 1936, in Butler, to the late Harold and Marion Nail.

Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who was truly devoted to her family. Nora married the love of her life, Jack Ertel, in February 1958. They were married 42 years, and she traveled the world as an Air Force wife.

Nora was devoted to raising her four children and went back to school to get her registered nurse license, graduating in 1988. She devoted her career to caring for oncology patients and her life to serving the Lord.

Nora enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed ceramics and won many ribbons for her porcelain dolls. She is survived by her four children, Karen (Phil) Sparks, Brenda (Steve) Hastings, Ronald (Sandy) Ertel and Sharon (Jerry/Matthew) Nelson; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and many other extended family members and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ertel; and her parents, Harold and Marion Nail.

ERTEL — A visitation for Nora Jean Ertel, who died Saturday, March 4, 2017, will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Ariz., with services immediately after.
