Jurysta named manager at Cranberry Eagle

Michele Jurysta

CRANBERRY TWP — Michele Jurysta has been named general manager at the Cranberry Eagle, which is a bi-weekly Eagle Printing Co. publication.

Jurysta formerly served as the advertising manager at the Cranberry Eagle. She held that position for seven years, and among her accomplishments was creating the Family Values coupon book that publishes quarterly.

Her new duties will include management of staff members and general operations at the newspaper.

Having joined the company in 1992 as an inside sales representative at the Butler Eagle, Jurysta later worked in outside sales. She is credited with implementing the Marketplace homes guide that remains in publication today. Jurysta also was responsible for researching and publishing the Eagle’s popular “Headlines of History” books.

Jurysta was formerly employed as a national sales executive at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and as the public relations manager at Boscov’s department store.

Active in a myriad of community groups, Jurysta served as president of the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler, where she twice chaired the group’s annual fundraiser. She was also elected president of the GFWC Butler County Federation, which oversaw eight local chapters.

Among Jurysta’s many service projects in the county are the startup of a program to collect professional clothing for women re-entering the workforce, serving as a Junior Achievement instructor at local elementary schools and delivering Meals on Wheels.

Jurysta is the recipient of the 2003 Butler County Distinguished Service Award, which is given annually for exemplary service to the community.

She is a 1988 graduate of Butler High School, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 1992 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Jurysta resides in Adams Township with her daughter, Hallie, and future husband, Jody, and stepson, Jason.

Her promotion comes on the heels of the retirement of former Cranberry Eagle general manager, Machan “Mace” Pavelek, after 18 years.
