Dorothy Virginia Baker Thompson

Dorothy Virginia Baker Thompson, 85, of Harrisville passed away at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at Orchard Manor in Grove City.

She was born April 30, 1931, in McKeesport, Pa., to George Edwin Baker and Lenore Anna Holstein Baker.

She married Donald Lee Thompson on July 22, 1950. Dorothy was a homemaker and in earlier years had provided child care and housecleaning services for others. She was a member of the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Harrisville for more than 50 years and enjoyed baking and sewing.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Don at home; three sons, Douglas W. of Dalhart, Texas, Larry J. (Judy) Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., and David B. Thompson of Harrisville; her daughter, Janice R. Berry of Harrisville; three grandchildren, Kristy Sturgil, Dan Thompson and Dustin Berry; and her great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Sturgil.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Esther Vickery; and her brother, Edwin Baker.

THOMPSON — Family of Dorothy Virginia Baker Thompson, who died Sunday, March 5, 2017, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be observed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Jeff Jones, pastor of the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church, presiding. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Harmony Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 406, Harrisville, PA 16038.
