Dorothy A. Geyer Purvis

Dorothy A. Geyer Purvis of Mars passed away peacefully Monday.

Dorothy was born Sept. 14, 1921, the daughter of Ethel Cashdoller Geyer and Gilbert Geyer at their home in Adams Township.

She married Ross Purvis and had one son, Kenneth. They lived their entire married life on Old State Road in Gibsonia.

Mrs. Purvis was a former member of the Mars Garden Club and an avid gardener. She was also a member of the Valencia United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bargain hunting and sharing her treasures with family and friends. She was a spirited woman. Her family and friends will treasure her example of strength, independence and sensibility.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband; her brothers, George and William “Bill” Geyer; and her sister, Esther Truver.

Dorothy lived within a few miles of all her siblings for her entire life.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth L. Purvis of Cranberry Township; her sister, Jean Stewart, and her sister-in-law, Doris Geyer, both of Mars; four grandchildren, Kate Purvis and Karen Purvis, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ken Purvis Jr. of Saxonburg and Kimberly Krautter of San Diego, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

PURVIS — In accordance to the wishes of Dorothy A. Geyer Purvis, who died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, there will be no viewing.She will be cremated and her ashes interred beside her husband in the Mount Olive Cemetery.
