Samuel “Sam” C. McSwaney

Samuel “Sam” C. McSwaney, 79, of Middlesex Township, formerly of Mars, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.

Born Oct. 10, 1937, in Vandergrift, Pa., he was the son of the late Jesse and Helen Benn McSwaney.

Sam was a truck driver for Vogel Disposal in Mars for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He then drove truck part time for T.J. Hopper in Gibsonia.

He was a social member of the Mars VFW Post 7505 and also belonged to the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM.

Sam enjoyed riding his Harley, going to camp and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, H. Eleanor Sudaz McSwaney, who he married Aug. 3, 1957; two daughters, Beverly McSwaney-Blacksmith of Cranberry Township and Bonnie (Ken) Angelelli of Raleigh, N.C.; his grandchildren, Danielle L. (Steve) Ludolff, Jamie (Beth) McSwaney, Marcy (Rich) Matson, Chad Angelelli and John Sauerland; his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlin, Emily, Amber, Aaron, Collin, Camryn, Cody and Jack; and his sister, Noelene Meals of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel “Sammy” B. McSwaney.

MCSWANEY — Friends of Samuel “Sam” C. McSwaney, who died Thursday, March 2, 2017, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Lawther, pastor of Life Pointe Alliance Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Immediately following the service everyone is invited to the Mars VFW for lunch.Memorials are requested to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
