JACKSON TWP — Police say a Butler man was driving under the influence with an infant passenger.

Nicklas J. Whallin, 24, waived charges Tuesday stemming from an incident in the early morning of July 12, 2016.

Police observed Whallin driving at “an unusually slow speed” on Route 528 and then “suddenly speed up,” according to reports.

The reports said that after the vehicle crossed lines on the road, police pulled Whallin over in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Route 68.

Whallin had a female passenger and an infant in the back seat of the vehicle and police could smell alcoholic odors coming from the vehicle, reports state. The infant was reported to be the female passenger’s son.

Whallin was driving with a suspended license and told police he was driving home to Butler. He also told police he “probably had a six pack” of beer.

Blood tests showed Whallin had a blood-alcohol content of 0.108 percent.

Whallin faces two charges of DUI and one charge of endangering the welfare of children along with lesser offenses.

He is free on $5,000 bond and will be arraigned in county court on May 22.
