Earl M. Christy Sr.
Earl M. Christy Sr., 81, of Butler died early Wednesday morning at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Butler, he was a son of the late Charles Harvey Christy and Esther Edith Walters Christy.
Earl was retired from the Plant One Shipping Department of the Armco Steel Plant, following 33 years.
He was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, the East Butler Firehall, the VFW Post 7876 in Chicora, the Roman Catholic Men's Club, the Herman Fire Co. and the Happy Hunters in Fenelton, where he belonged to both their horseshoe league and their pool league. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp.
A veteran of the Korean War, Earl served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving is his wife, Leetta E. Trimbur Christy, who he married June 18, 1955; four children, Mary Kay (James Sr.) Angert of East Butler, Earl “Buzz” (Sue) Christy Jr. of Fenelton, Carol (Steve) Rudish Plavi of Cabot and Sandra (Donald) Harrison of Cabot; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard “Pink” Christy of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Rudish; one great-grandson, Logan John Rudish; one great-granddaughter, Alison Mae Downey; two brothers, Albert Harvey Christy and Ralph Lee Christy Sr.; and one sister, Esther Clark.

Christy Sr., who died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville. The Rev. Matthew McClain, pastor, will officiate.
