Thomas Roland Hoover
Thomas Roland Hoover, 81, of Slippery Rock passed away unexpectedly Feb. 12 at his home.
He was born March 28, 1935, in Claytonia, to Albert S. Hoover and Catherine E. Hilliard Hoover.
Tom was a 32nd degree Mason, a past member of the Erie Zem Zem Shrine Tri-wheelers, the Moose and Eagles clubs.
He worked throughout his life primarily in construction as a mason tender and was a member of the Laborers' International Union, working on such projects as the Kinzua Dam and Pymatuning Spillway.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and in his younger years roller skating. He also participated in rodeos and was a Golden Gloves boxer.
He married Mary Lou Hall in October of 1995, who survives. He also is survived by his stepchildren, Keith (Karen) Hall and Kitty Hall; and his step-granddaughter, Kelli (Ryan) Michaels.
He also is survived by three children from his first marriage to Joyce M. Hoover: Mark T. Hoover of Wellsboro, Pa., Shari J. Hoover of Statesville, N.C., and W. Reid Hoover of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Walter L., Raymond L. and Lonnie “John” G., all of Pennsylvania; one sister, Bonnie “Sissie” J. of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Arthur, Vincent “Rip,” Albert “Buss,” Martin “Bud” and Gilbert; and four sisters, Clara Meals, Faye Tackett, Alma “Sis” McCall and Littie Berry.
HOOVER — Thomas Roland Hoover, who died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, wished to have no funeral service and will rest with his family.
