Glenn Richard Thompson Sr.

Glenn Richard Thompson Sr., 83, of Renfrew, entered into his heavenly home Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 30, 1933, in Bakerstown, the son of the late Warren and Marie Thompson.

Glenn worked for Step Saver Kitchens and Halstead Mitchell. One of the greatest joys in his life was starting Thompson's General Contracting where he worked with his sons and sons-in-law. He worked into his 70s until failing health forced a retirement. Glenn attended Butler Church of the Nazarene.

He married Ethel Jane Fehl Sept. 21, 1951. They were married 53 years until her death April 11, 2005.

He enjoyed his work and time spent with his family. We will miss his tender smile and heartfelt prayers. The circle is unbroken.

Glenn is survived by his four children, Glee (Jim) Kane, Glenn R. (Joy) Thompson Jr., Gladys (Tom) Stephenson and Gordon (Kathy) Thompson.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, James Jr. and Jeff Kane, Mike (Christine) Thompson, Keith (Brianna) Thompson, Glenn (Jacquie) Thompson, Alisha Stephenson, Aaron (Brittany) Stephenson and Amber Stephenson; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey and Molly Thompson, Tyler and Kayla Thompson, T.J. Thompson, Malachi Stephenson and Tommy Stephenson.

One of nine siblings, Glenn is also survived by sisters, Mildred Coyne, of Pittsburgh, Elva Jean Downing, of Butler, and Nancy Critchlow, of Saxonburg.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren (Red) Thompson, Robert Thompson and David Thompson; and two sisters, Marie Brown and Wilma Tabisz.

THOMPSON — Friends of Glenn Richard Thompson Sr., who died Wednesday, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leon Blaise officiating.
