Dorothy J. Wimer

Dorothy J. Wimer, 94, of East Brady died Tuesday at the VNA Hospice in Butler.

Born Feb. 9, 1923, in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of Arthur W. and Rosetta L. Kelly Hillwig.

A 1941 graduate of East Brady High School, Dorothy attended the Butler Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a medical technician with the East Brady Ambulance and was postmaster at the East Brady Post Office, retiring after 32 years.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling and, as the matriarch of five generations, she loved spending time with her family.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Kay Crissman, and her husband, Whitey, of Kittanning; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Wimer of East Brady; and one son-in-law, Jude Kendra of Brookville.

She also is survived by seven grandchildren, Karl Dean (Thelma) Stewart, Julie (John) Scholl, Brent (Alicia) Shepard, Kim (Mike) Simpson, Bill (Andrea) Crissman, Petula (Steve) King and Brian (Kim) Wimer; one granddaughter-in-law, Diana Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Wimer; one son, Neil Wimer; one daughter, Sharon Kendra; one brother, William Hillwig; and two grandsons, Larry and Stephen Stewart.

WIMER — Friends of Dorothy J. Wimer, who died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
