Patricia J. Cavalero Schaffer

Patricia J. Cavalero Schaffer, 84, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 30, 1932, in Butler to the late Samuel Cavalero and Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Fetterman Cavalero.

Mrs. Schaffer worked for 25 years at the Butler Eagle. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Patricia enjoyed baking and cooking Sunday dinners with her family. She loved her grandchildren and great-granddaughters, summers at the beach with her family, and going to play bingo or to the casino with friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Josephs and her husband, Rick, of Butler and Joan Schaffer of Butler; one grandson, Matther Josephs; one granddaughter, Sarah Josephs Hoehn, and her husband, Ryan; two great-granddaughters, Megan Tack of Duncannon, Pa., and Nora Hoehn of Butler; three brothers, Donald Cavalero and his wife, Susan, of Butler, Gordon Cavalero of Butler and David Cavalero of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Schaffer, who she married Sept. 25, 1954, and who died Sept. 25, 2006; one brother, Samuel Cavalero; and one sister, Chervyl Leonard.

SCHAFFER — Friends of Patricia J. Cavalero Schaffer, who died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of blessing service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., with the Rev. Anthony R. Sciarappa officiating. Private burial will take place at St. Peters Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
