Claude “Bill” William Hinchberger Jr.

Claude “Bill” William Hinchberger Jr., 72, died peacefully Saturday in Joanne's House at the Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Fla.

Born April 30, 1944, he is the son of the late Claude “Dutch” William Hinchberger Sr. and Evelyn Plaisted Hinchberger. He attended St. Paul Catholic School and was a 1962 graduate of Butler Area Senior High School. He retired from Armco after 38 years of service.

He and his wife, Linda, lived as part-time residents in Bonita Springs, Fla., and summertime residents of Slippery Rock Park. His creative pastime of home improvements and landscapings won great admiration.

Bill enjoyed Steelers football, being outdoors and campfires, but most of all spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Mercatell Hinchberger; two sons, Keith (Lisa) and David (Holly); one daughter, Leisa (Drew) Ecklund; two grandsons, David and Brendan Hinchberger; two granddaughters, Chloe and Cecilia Ecklund; and two stepgrandchildren, Chuck and Cheyenne Dosch.

He also is survived by two sisters, Mildred E. Vaulet and Carol L. Wigton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Royle; and two nephews.
