Lifters fare well at Steel City meetWILMERDING — Four area lifters won various divisions of the Sons of Thunder Powerlifting's Steel City Teen Bench Press & Deadlift meet recently at the Wilmerding YMCA.Corey Payne, 16, of Cabot won the Outstanding Bench Presser award with a lift of 365 pounds at a body weight of 242 and a first-place deadlift of 550.Jayden Renfrew, 18, of Cabot won the 148-pound division with a bench press of 260 pounds and deadlift of 430. Ivan Stapchuck, 18, of Sarver won the 181-pound division with a bench press of 280 and deadlift of 430.Alan Barnhart, 16, of Fenelton won the 165-pound division with a bench press of 260 and deadlift of 440.

Nets end 16-game losing streakSACRAMENTO, Calif. — Brook Lopez had 24 points and eight rebounds, and the Brooklyn Nets never trailed in snapping a 16-game losing streak by defeating the Sacramento Kings 109-100 on Wednesday night.The Nets’ previous win was Jan. 20 at New Orleans.
