Dorothy Young
Dorothy Young, 79, of Butler, passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1937, in Columbus, Ga., to the late Robert George and the late Inez Scott George.
Mrs. Young attended swim aerobics at Butler YMCA for over 30 years. She was a past president of the Northwest Elementary PTA. Dorothy loved reading, baking, gardening, especially her flowers, and most of all loved her family.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Lawrence Sr., whom she married April 1, 1956; two sons, Lawrence Young Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Mars, and Kenneth Young, of Butler; two daughters, Susan Randolph and her husband, Ty, of Butler, and Cherie Gahagan and her husband, Bill, of Butler; five grandsons, Austyn Randolph, Christopher Falba and his wife, Pimm, Evan Randolph, Trevor Gahagan and Collin Gahagan; one granddaughter, Isabella Young; four brothers, Robert George, Joseph George, Ricky George and Edward George, all of Columbus, Ga.; five sisters, Barbara Shofner, of Fort Worth, Texas, Vicky George, of Columbus, Ga., Pat George, of Columbus, Ga., May Rose, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Louise Ensor, of Fort Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry George.
YOUNG — Friends of Dorothy Young, who died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private entombment will take place at the Calvary Cemetery.
