David “Dave” W. King

David “Dave” W. King, 90, of East Brady, formerly of Frogtown, Pa., passed away Tuesday at ACMH.

The son of Perry and Nellie Byers King, Dave was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Sugarcreek Township, where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Kittanning High School, then worked for the Bantam Car Co. in Butler for several years.

Dave served in the U.S. Army 1st Division during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952.

After returning from the service, Dave decided to become a barber and graduated from Pittsburgh Barber School and went to work with Joe Nobile at his shop in Kaylor in 1955. In 1965, he built his own shop along Route 268 in Frogtown, Pa., which is now known as Hair Perfections Shop.

In the 1960s, he enjoyed playing music in his home with the Kepple brothers. Dave also was an accomplished piano player and played for many churches in the area, starting with Kaylor Baptist Church, then Kaylor United Methodist Church, Queenstown United Methodist Church, East Brady C and MA churches and East Brady Baptist Church.

After about 10 years of retirement, Dave decided to move to Allegheny Hills in East Brady with friends he had known there. While there, he attended East Brady Baptist Church.

Dave is survived by his cousins, Ed (Nyoka) Foringer, Harold Adamson, Ada Mae Wymer, Helen Vensel and Frank Rowley; and his caregivers, Ed and Rene Hoffman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cousins, Hazel Holt, Thelma Rhine and Edna Gould.

KING — Friends of David “Dave” W. King, who died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 832 East Brady Road, Cowansville, with the Rev.
