McCalmont Bridge to be replaced starting in March
BUTLER TWP — Motorists traveling between Meridian and Route 8 atop Armco Hill will have a detour for several weeks starting next month.
The detour is to accommodate crews that will be replacing the bridge over the Connoquenessing Creek at the bottom of McCalmont Road.
The project, expected to last about five weeks, will allow the state Department of Transportation to remove the bridge from the structurally deficient list.
The detour will use Meridian Road to Renfrew Road to Route 8 at the bottom of McBride Hill.
This bridge is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the state's Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
