Mary A. Simpson

Mary A. Simpson, 74, of Penn Township passed away Monday at her home.

She was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Butler, to the late Frederick Fleming and Dorothy Winters Fleming.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne D. Simpson, who she married June 17, 1961, and who died Aug. 15, 1990.

Mrs. Simpson was a member of the first graduating class of Knoch High School in 1960 and attended Carnegie Tech, now known as Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh. She was employed by Winters & Fleming until her retirement in 2005.

Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughters, Pamela Alikhani and her husband, Fariborz, of Mars, and Melanie Sternby and her husband, Victor, of Meadville; her grandchildren, Christopher Alikhani, Amanda Alikhani, Sarah Sternby, Heather Sternby and Nicholas Sternby; her great-granddaughter, Mara Noelle Damico; her brother, Charles Fleming, and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Rodger L. Fleming; and her niece, Rebecca Ann Fleming Congdon.

SIMPSON — The family and friends of Mary A. Simpson, who died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Tim Goodman of the First United Methodist Church, Butler, officiating.Burial will take place at the Summit United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Butler.Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Care Ministries, First United Methodist Church, 200 E.
