William Walter Bortz Jr

William Walter Bortz Jr, 38, of Prospect, died Saturday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born Dec. 4, 1978, in Butler, and was the son of William and Martha Hutchins Bortz. He was a 1997 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and was Lutheran. He had worked for Armstrong Utilities as a lineman.

Bill loved hunting, fishing and riding quads and loved to spend time with his son and family.

Survivors include his wife, Malynda Faye Henricks Bortz, of Prospect, whom he married June 18, 2005; his son, Tristen Bortz, at home; his parents, of Butler; his sister, Tracie Bortz, of Butler; his paternal grandmother, Dolly “Ruth” Bortz, of Prospect; his aunts and uncles; his sister-in-law, Beckie (Jason) Duncan, of Slippery Rock; and his niece and nephew, Jaylynn and Robby Warren.

Bill was preceded by his paternal grandfather, his maternal grandparents and one uncle.

BORTZ — Visitation for William Walter Bortz Jr., who died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., Prospect.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
