David Allen Yon

David Allen Yon, affectionately known as “Herc,” passed away early Saturday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

David was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Homestead, Pa. He was the youngest child of Chester and Edna Strandberg Yon.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, the former Anita Masenko, on May 12, 1956, and together they moved to Cranberry in 1967.

He was a member of the Free Masons and retired from Bethlehem Steel.

David was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, and three brothers.

He is survived by his two sons, David S. Yon (Carol Gorman) and Alan E. (Shannon) Yon; two daughters, Anita (Matt) Federkeil and Beverly (Don Jr.) Wikert; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

YON — Per the wishes of David Allen Yon, who died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, no services will be conducted, and his remains will be entombed next to his wife's at the Pinewood Memorial Cemetery.Arrangements are under the care of the Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry.
