Carved in Ice fest SaturdayThe Butler A.M. Rotary’s second annual Carved in Ice event, an ice festival and chili cook-off, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.The carvings will be based in Diamond Park, and the chili cook-off will be at the Butler Art Center.There also will be wine and beer tastings, food trucks and entertainment.Admission is free. Students act ShakespearePITTSBURGH — Butler County students are taking part in the 23rd annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest at the Pittsburgh Public Theater through Feb. 16.Youths from the Homeschool Group Classical Conversations in Valencia, Freeport High School, and Slippery Rock School District are participating.More than 1,000 area students from 100 schools are scheduled to compete in preliminary rounds at the O’Reilly Theater, 621 Penn Ave.Judges will evaluate each participant and the best will progress to the Showcase of Finalists at 7 p.m. Feb. 20.
