Middlesex Township Police are investigating an early-morning hit and run that brought down a utility pole and prompted the closure of Browns Hill Road at Route 8.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said that based on evidence at the scene, they believe a semi-truck hit the utility pole around 2:15 a.m. The truck drove away before police arrived, leaving the pole downed onto Browns Hill Road. Officials said the road will be closed until the pole can be fixed.
