BUFFALO TWP — A township man is accused of trying to run over a police officer with his car.

Buffalo Township officer Jeffrey Sneddon, who had his gun drawn, had to jump out of the way of the speeding vehicle just after 7 p.m. Saturday on Sarver Road near Route 356, police said.

The suspect, 47-year-old Daniel P. Adamik, a short time later bailed out of the car and took off running. Sneddon eventually arrested Adamik, police said, but not before deploying his Taser.

The defendant was subsequently taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, authorities said. He apparently suffered minor injuries. The officer was not hurt.

Adamik is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and several other traffic violations.

Sneddon initially spotted the suspect traveling on Sarver Road in a car that did not have its head lights or taillights on, according to court documents.

Sneddon said he activated his emergency lights and tried to pull over the defendant, who would not stop. The officer had to maneuver his cruiser to finally stop the car.

But after Sneddon got out and approached the suspect’s vehicle, Adamik put the car in reverse, documents said, and backed up. The car slammed into the tree line along the road.

He put the vehicle in drive and accelerated at an “extremely high pace,” documents said.

Sneddon pulled out his service pistol and yelled to Adamik to stop.

“That’s when I had to jump out of the way,” according to the officer’s affidavit, “and the bottom of my firearm hit the front passenger’s window.”

Sneddon returned to his cruiser and started to chase the defendant. Adamik drove over shrubs that were in the yard of a home in the 500 block of Sarver Road where his parents live. The car ended up against a garage door.

The suspect, however, was not about to give up, police said. When Adamik jumped from the car, Sneddon noticed the suspect’s pants were down around his ankles. He pulled up the pants and ran through bushes.

Sneddon yelled at the defendant to stop before firing his Taser, which dropped Adamik to the ground, documents said. The defendant was arrested and placed in handcuffs.
