BUTLER TWP — Butler High School was evacuated this morning due to a leaking gas main outside the building off New Castle Road.

Butler School District Acting Superintendent William Pettigrew said the odor was detected inside the building through a vent.

Students were temporarily evacuated to the intermediate high school building. Pettigrew said the high school students likely would be sent home while the problem is investigated by Peoples Gas, including verifying whether there is a leak inside as well.
