Eliza 'Jane' Garner

Eliza “Jane” Garner, 84, of Grove City, formerly of Barkeyville, passed away Wednesday at Orchard Manor in Grove City, surrounded by her family.

Jane was born May 21, 1932, in Claytonia, Pa., to Burton and Blanche Heller Hilliard. She was one of six children.

Jane received her education in Claytonia upon meeting her husband Laverne G. Garner. The two were married Nov. 22, 1952, and together they had four children. Laverne died May 13, 1981.

Jane's love of taking care of people carried over to her work at Orchard Manor. Jane was a nurses' aid at the home for 30 years. She also worked in any area of the home that needing an extra hand, like custodial and also in dietary.

Jane's family enjoyed many family gatherings and shared great meals and many laughs. In earlier years, Jane attended county music concerts with her friends. Later in life, the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy, MaMa's door was always open for a visit or a quick bite to eat.

Loved ones left to cherish Jane's memory are her children, Linda Garner, of Grove City, Jean Garner, of Barkeyville, Ronald Garner and his wife, Connie, of Boyers, Dennis Garner and his wife, Kathy, of Harrisville; Jane's grandchildren, Tanya McFadden and her husband, Corey, of Kennerdell, James Garner, of Boyers, Chelsey Garner, of Stoneboro, Charles Williams and his wife, Tiffany, of Hilliards; and her three great-grandchildren, Cole, Alexis and McKenzie McFadden of Kennerdell.

She also is survived by her sister, Freda Stone; and her brother, James Hilliard and his wife, Bev, of Butler; her special niece, Sis Lominski, of Parker; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Baynard and Herbert Hilliard; and one sister, Louise Double.

GARNER — Family of Eliza “Jane” Garner, who died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, will welcome family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville.Funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with one hour of visitation before the service. The Rev. Stephanie Thompson, chaplain of Orchard Manor, will be officiating the service.Interment will take place at Annadale Cemetery, Boyers.The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Eliza's memory to Boyers United Methodist Church.Friends may also e-mail condolences by visiting www.mckinleyfuneralhome.net.
