Dorothy I. Koenig Daubenspeck

Dorothy I. Koenig Daubenspeck, 88, of Grove City passed away Thursday morning at the Grove Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Dorothy was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Mercer, to Earl and Mildred Hahn Fitzgerald. She married William H. Koenig on Nov. 4, 1950; he preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1974. Dorothy married Paul T. Daubenspeck on Aug. 29, 1975.

She was a teacher and a homemaker. Dorothy was a graduate of Grove City High School and Grove City College, where she received a degree in education. Over the years, she was an active member at the East Main Presbyterian Church, where she taught Bible school, sang in the church choir and, when the church was gifted hand bells, her family was the first to ring them for the congregation.

Dorothy was an avid reader; she organized a book drive and, with the help of others, sent thousands of books to a college where her daughter, Patty, taught in Micronesia.

Survivors include her husband, Paul of Grove City; five children, the Rev. W. Mark Koenig and his wife, the Rev. Tricia, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Paul D. Koenig and his wife, Cindy, of Solon, Ohio, Patricia Kelly and her husband, Douglas, of Saudi Arabia, Larry Daubenspeck and his wife, Jane, of Englewood, Colo., and Paula Diane Sentgeorge and her husband John, of Marietta, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Fitzgerald, of Grove City; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Other than her first husband, her parents preceded Dorothy in death.

DAUBENSPECK — Funeral services for Dorothy I. Daubenspeck, who died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main St., Grove City, with her son, the Rev. W. Mark Koenig, officiating. Burial will take place at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grove City Community Library, 125 W. Main St., Grove City, PA 16127.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
