Lumley resigns from Butler district
Dale Lumley has resigned from the Butler School District with the intention to retire, according to the district's website.
The school board has accepted his resignation effective Sunday.
William Pettigrew will serve as acting superintendent, pending the board’s appointment of a new superintendent, according to the website.
Lumley, the school's superintendent since 2014, was under fire from parents during the district's ongoing water crisis at Summit Township Elementary School.
State police are investigating why the district did not notify the public or create an action plan after Summit's water tested positive for lead in August.
