Evelyn M. Humes

Evelyn M. Humes, 73, of Penn Hills passed away Tuesday at the UPMC East in Monroeville.

Born June 27, 1943, in Steubenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late David William and Susan Washel Schrader.

Evelyn was very proud to be a 1961 graduate of Steubenville High School. She previously attended the Dutilh United Methodist Church.

When her children were young, Evelyn served as a Den Mother to the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates. She loved her dog, Bailey, but above all, cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four sons, Todd “Mingo” Humes and his wife, Rachel Gerrich, of Prospect, Jeffrey Humes and his wife, Dana Chill, of Butler, Michael Humes and his wife, Jennifer Tracy, of Simsbury, Conn., and Scott Humes of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren, Kaitlin, Michael, Alexander, Tristan, Zachary, Jacob, Carter, Griffin and Jayla; her sister, Janice Lapota of Mingo Junction, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Humes, who died May 30, 2005.

HUMES — The family of Evelyn M. Humes, who died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A funeral ceremony will be at noon Saturday at the Dutilh United Methodist Church, 1270 Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Jim Gascoine, pastor, and the Rev. Anthony S. Fallisi, pastor, officiating. Evelyn will be laid to rest at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
