Drivers injured in 2-vehicle crash
CENTER TWP — A two-vehicle accident left both drivers injured around 7 a.m. today near the intersection of Route 8 and Mercer Road.
Nick Richards, 18, of Center Township was driving a red Chevrolet TrailBlazer, pulling out of the Kwik Fill near the intersection to head north on Route 8.
Richards said the traffic light at the intersection was yellow, so he went to make the turn.
“I pulled out thinking I could make it and I got hit,” he said.
The TrailBlazer collided with a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee that was heading north on Route 8.
The woman in the Jeep suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital by Butler Ambulance Service. Her name was not available.
Richards said the side of his torso was sore.
The TrailBlazer sustained severe left-side damage, while the Jeep sustained severe front-end damage. Both vehicles were towed.
The Unionville Fire Department and state police were on the scene. Route 8 was limited to one lane each way for about an hour following the accident.
