Bernard “Bernie” J. Denniston

Bernard “Bernie” J. Denniston, 61, of Chicora, passed away peacefully Sunday with his wife at his side in VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born March 27, 1955, in Jamison Hospital in New Castle, he was the son of the late Howard Denniston and the late Mary Margaret Johnson Denniston.

He was a 1973 Laurel High School and Vo-Tech graduate. He worked for Cory Fox Trucking from 2009 until his retirement in 2015 due to his illness. He enjoyed fishing, landscaping, gardening, woodcutting and beautifying his home. He also enjoyed working for Cory Fox Trucking of Cabot and landscaping for Steighner Funeral Home in Chicora.

He is survived by his wife, Suz Gardner Denniston; his daughter, Christie Marie Welling; three granddaughters; one stepdaughter, Alyssa Chance; one stepson, Matthew Cammarata; one brother, Charles Denniston and his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Dorothy Duprult, Laura Basham, Mary Mowry and Margaret Nappi; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Tom; and his sister, Claire.

He will be greatly missed.

DENNISTON — There will be no visitation for Bernard “Bernie” J. Denniston, who died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
