CONNOQUENESSING — State police have identified the drivers of a head-on crash Wednesday morning on Route 68 that left one of them hospitalized in Pittsburgh.

Landon Noullet, 40, of Butler was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian with unknown injuries. His condition was not available this morning.

The other driver, Russell Roupe, 36, of Washington, Pa., apparently was not hurt.

Police said investigators believe Noullet’s Volkswagen sedan just after 5:30 a.m. crossed into opposing traffic while traveling around a bend in the road and collided with Roupe’s pickup truck.

The collision happened near White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church in Connoquenessing Township.

Butler Township Fire District 3 volunteer firefighters said Noullet was still in his car when they got there. He was conscious and talking.

Roupe was able to get out of his truck on his own.

Police did not immediately know what caused the crash but they said road and weather conditions did not appear to be factors.

Both vehicles sustained moderate front-end damage and had to be towed.
