Edward L. Straughn
Edward L. Straughn, 72, of Buffalo Township passed away while in the company of family Wednesday at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
Ed was born Oct. 15, 1944, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Irene Schroth McDivitt and Edward E. Straughn.
He was employed as a plant supervisor at the Freeport Brick Co. in Freeport for 40 years. He worked in the summers for Brackenridge Golf Course.
Ed was a member of a local archaeologists society. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and collecting arrowheads. He was an avid reader who enjoyed books on archaeology and novels written by the authors Tom Clancy and Stephen King. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad.
He was the husband of Yetta for 50 years; they were married June 11, 1966, at St. Mary's in Freeport.
Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yetta M. Scott Straughn; his son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Amy Straughn of Herman; two grandchildren, Cheyanne and Dallas Straughn; his great-grandson, Elliot Straughn; two stepgrandchildren, Zachary and McKenna Milliren; and his stepmother, Lottie Straughn of Connecticut.
Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Gretl Straughn-Milliren; and his grandmother, who raised him, Naomi Schroth.
STRAUGHN — Family and friends of Edward L. Straughn, who died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport.
