Lorenz, Martin win BCBA doublesJohn Lorenz and Steve Martin of Valencia teamed up to win the handicap division of the recent Butler County Bowling Association Doubles Tournament at Bon-Aire.Their score was 1,628, 52 pins better than runners-up Brian Bruce and Tim Malis of Butler. David Rouda and Donny Stevenson of Renfrew were third.Kevin Richardson and Brian Marcellus of Slippery Rock won the scratch division with a 1,411. Scott Schrecengost and Paul Zitzman of Sarver were second, Bruce and Malis third.There were 69 doubles entries in the tournament.

SRU's Carpenter athlete of weekSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University point guard Lexi Carpenter has been named PSAC West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.Carpenter averaged 33.5 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two games for The Rock, including 93.3 percent (14 of 15) from the foul line.She has scored 32 or more points in four successive games. No other Division II player has recorded four straight 30-point games. Carpenter leads the PSAC with 20.4 points per game.

Kerr critical of NBA players’ voteMIAMI — Golden State coach Steve Kerr wishes players had taken their voting for the NBA All-Star Game more seriously, calling it a “mockery” after nearly 300 players in the league wound up on at least one ballot.Nearly 100 players got only one vote from either themselves or an NBA peer in the All-Star balloting, including Mo Williams — who hasn’t played a single second this season. The NBA said a total of 324 players participated.

Clijsters, Roddick entering tennis HOFMELBOURNE, Australia — Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick have been elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.Roddick was the last American man to capture a Grand Slam singles trophy.
