Ronald L. Smith

Ronald L. Smith, 86, of Sarver, passed away Friday at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born July 12, 1930 in Sarver, he was the son of Tilmer Smith and Lida Freehling Smith.

Ron was a dairy farmer on the Smith homestead in Sarver, a substitute postal carrier in the 1960s and he was currently working maintenance at Villa Vista Estates.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport where he was custodian, sang in the church choir and served on church council. He was secretary for many years for the Butler County Farm Bureau and many committees within the organization.

He was active in the Sarver Community Chorus and men’s chorus. Music was his passion and serving was his mission.

He will be remembered for helping others and his generosity.

Surviving are two brothers, Glenn (Adelee) Smith of Sarver and Kenneth (Alice) Smith of Waterloo, N.Y.; one sister, Grace (Richard) Grimm of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

SMITH — Friends of Ronald L. Smith, who died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jocelyn Johnston officiating.

Interment will follow in Sarverville Cemetery.
