Clarence “Buzz” R. Snyder Jr.

Clarence “Buzz” R. Snyder Jr., 97, of Cowansville died Tuesday at ACMH.

Born Oct. 14, 1919, in Cowansville, he was the son of Clarence and Maude Stouffer Snyder Sr.

Buzz was retired from Carpentertown Coal and Coke, and he was a 50-year member of the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville where he was a former elder.

His memberships included being a 50-year member of the Kittanning-East Brady Lodge 244 F&AM where he served as past master and was awarded the 33rd Degree, the New Castle Consistory where he was given the Meritorious Service Award, Kittanning Council 52, the Royal Order of Scotland, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Orient Royal Arch Chapter 247 and the Pittsburgh Syria Shrine. Buzz was also a 50-year member of the Sugarcreek Township Fire Department.

Buzz is survived by his daughter, Patricia K. Boltz of Cowansville; his grandchildren, Jennifer Swauger of Weirton, W.Va., Brian (Sherri) Boltz of Kittanning, Jocelyn Bittenbender of Palm Springs, Calif., and Chad (Lori) Bittenbender of Providence Village, Texas; and his great-grandchildren, Jessica Baker of Weirton, W.Va., Maria and Jonathan Boltz, both of Kittanning, and Kate, Lauren and Ryan Bittenbender of Providence Village, Texas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Leard Snyder in 2012; his daughter, Karla Bittenbender in 1991; his sister, Margaret Bowser; and his brothers, W. James Snyder, Walter G. Snyder, Charles H. Snyder and Elmer A. Snyder.

SNYDER — Friends of Clarence “Buzz” R. Snyder Jr., who died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with additional viewing from 12:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning with the Rev. Mary Marks King officiating. Interment will take place at the Lawn Haven Burial Estates.A Masonic service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Clarence R.
