Barbara J. Cress
Barbara J. Cress, 82, of Renfrew, passed away Monday while under the care of Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas.
Born Nov. 12, 1934, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late John and Angela Leonard Miller.
Barb was a member of St. Fidelis Parish and a former member of St. Matthias Parish in Evans City. Through her love of genealogy, she traced her family history back several hundred years. This led to her volunteer work at the Butler Public Library in the genealogy department. She also enjoyed being on the computer, but was most proud of crafting her hand-painted porcelain dolls. Barb will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Melanie Gavula Losser of Lyndora and Andrea Gavula (Dick) Doutt of Butler; her son, Michael S. (Marsha) Gavula of Evans City; her stepdaughter, Susan (Harry) Marfin of Butler; her grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, Shannon, Anthony and Rocky; her seven great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Myrna Capers of Texas and Linda Joyce of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Cress, who died July 29, 2002; and her sister, Lili Bartolotta.
CRESS — Friends of Barbara J. Cress, who died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A blessing service will follow visitation at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
